Bob Pilser of Ho-Ho-Kus normally goes into NYC at 6:30 a.m. daily. Friday, though, he took the train to visit a friend, and it was chaos.
“Unorganized. Disruptive. Mixed up. Nobody knows anything,” Pilser said.
“The conductors don’t know. It’s crazy.”
Pilser and NJ Transit officials both wonder what will happen next week. The schedule hasn't been sorted out yet, NJ Transit spokesperson told Daily Voice Friday.
Francina Alvarez, a mom who commutes into the city daily from Waldwick, said she got lucky Thursday night.
“My stepfather drove to the city and picked me up at work because he knew the schedule was going to be off,” she said. “Thank God.”
Alvarez got out of work early Friday and waited patiently at the Waldwick platform for a train back into the city to meet a friend. She was unfazed that it was seven minutes late.
The overall situation is so bad, she said, that some of her co-workers are considering staying home from work altogether on Monday.
